Smith County woman faces charges in relation to son’s death

 

SMITH COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A shooting investigation led by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations (TBI) led to the arrest of a woman.

The TBI was requested by the 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson, to investigate a shooting that took place January 30, 2024.

This shooting resulted in the death of Theodore Taylor in Gordonsville, Tennessee.

During the investigation, agents gathered enough information pointing towards Trena Roberts being responsible.

The TBI reported Roberts made Taylor commit an assault against two men by using or displaying a deadly weapon.

This caused one of these men to kill Taylor in response.

The Smith County Grand Jury returned indictments and charged Roberts with one count of Reckless Homicide and two counts of Aggravated Assault.

On August 7, 2024, Roberts was arrested.

She’s currently being held at the Smith County Jail on a $40,000 band.
