Snapchat “My AI” feedback: most users disapprove

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Recently, Snapchat added an AI feature to all users’ accounts.

It’s called “My AI,” and anyone who has updated their app receives a message from the bot. Users can have conversations with this artificial intelligence, similar to ChatGPT. Myai

This addition is receiving mixed responses from Snap users. Feedback ranges from people who aren’t bothered, to people who hate the addition.

Many individuals are posting to TikTok, Facebook and other social media apps to show issues they are having with the AI during conversation.

Some of these issues range from the AI knowing their location, claiming to have a name and personal history, or lying.

However, one of the main issues that people cite is that users cannot delete the AI from their personal accounts.

Some people have been able to clear the AI from their chat feeds without paying. But for many others, there is no such option.

Snapchat did announce one way to delete the AI, and that is by upgrading to Snapchat+.

Snapchat+ costs $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year. It was released in June of 2022.

Some critics of My AI think the new addition is just a way for the app to increase their revenue, by getting traditional users to upgrade in order to delete the newest addition.

News 12 took to social media on Tuesday to get local feedback on “My AI.”

Of those who responded, 17 people, in some way, said they were not happy with it.

Three people were critical of those who are against the AI.

No one responded in favor of the bot, though.

The Chickamauga Police Department also responded to this artificial intelligence. They took to social media to alert the public. After explaining what My AI is, they state, “As always, please take the time to do your research. Have a conversation with your children. Understand the influence, dangers, benefits, and impact this could have on our children and teens.”
