Soddy Daisy Middle student arrested for making school threat

SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A student at Soddy Daisy Middle School was arrested and charged after making a threat against the school.

At 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2025, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) School Resource Deputy (SRO) was made aware of a threat made towards the school.

According to HCSO, a faculty member had been receiving threatening text messages from a local number since earlier this month.

At first, the messages weren’t violent.

However, on Monday, the texts became more threatening, targeting the school.

The faculty member then reported the texts to authorities.

HCSO’s investigation revealed that the suspect was an 8th-grade student.

The student later admitted to sending the threats.

The student was later arrested and charged with the following:

  • Threat of Mass Violence on School Property of at a School-Related Activity
  • Aggravated Stalking
