Soddy Daisy’s Logan Workman Reflects on Facing the Lookouts in Chattanooga
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) We had a home town kid face the Chattanooga Lookouts last night in Soddy Daisy’s Logan Workman. He was the starting pitcher for the Montgomery Biscuits. While Workman got a no-decision, he was able to celebrate the Biscuits 8-7 victory.
Logan Workman admits he had circled the Biscuits series in Chattanooga, but he wasn’t sure he would pitch in his home town because of an injury.
Said Workman:”I was two pitches into my first start, and I strained my oblique, and I vaulted off my 11th rib. I was completely sidelined for about two months. If I want to get back, I want to get back for this game.”
As Workman took the mound on Wednesday night, it was a surreal moment.
Said Workman:”I remember as a kid growing up and coming to games. I think I was six or seven running out on the field with players and stuff. To be that player actually out on the field throwing. It was great.”
Workman threw five and-a-third innings, with nine hits, three earned runs and four strikeouts.
Said Workman:”I put myself in a bad situation at times, and they took full advantage of it. They’re great hitters. It’s a great team. Great organization. I think they do a really good job of fighting off pitches. Doing what they need to, and they did that last night.”
While Workman wishes his numbers would have been better, the night itself could not have been better.
Said Workman:”I know I talked to my mom after the game. She said she had some tears rolling. It hit once I got to the dug out of like what it really was and how special the moment was. To be able to have family and friends. People that have grown up watching me and just kind of following what I’ve been doing. I think that was a moment that I hope to do again. But I also hope that one day it will be in the big league level.”
