South Carolina man accused of sending sexual text messages to a Chattanooga girl

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A South Carolina man has been extradited back to Hamilton County after authorities say he tried to solicit a 14-year old girl.

39-year old Jason Chastain remains locked up at the Hamilton County jail on a $25,000 bond after he was arrested in Anderson County South Carolina and extradited to Tennessee.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, Chastain sent sexual text messages from South Carolina to a 15-year old girl in Chattanooga.

The messages made the girl uncomfortable so she her parents who then called law enforcement.

Authorities looked at the phone and determined there was enough evidence to get a warrant for Chastain’s arrest.

The girl’s family told News 12 Chastain was considered a family friend when he sent the girl inappropriate text messages.

News 12 has also learned the case is being investigated by both local and federal law enforcement officials.
