“Southside Social” Set To Open In December
CHATTANOOGA-(WDEF) Some local entrepreneurs believe the area next to Finley Stadium is the next big hotspot for development in the Scenic City.
One venue expected to be up and running by the end of the year, promises just about everything for those looking for a good time.02:37:32
The Southside Social promises to be a "premier dining, drinking, and entertainment establishment," according to Executive Chef Blackwell Smith.
On its face, the Social could be considered an upscale bowling alley.
"I had the idea of doing a bowling alley concept, and when I looked into it the size of the building worked perfectly for the depth and width I was looking for, so it made it a real easy decision," said Developer John Wise III.
Wise hopes to take advantage of the crowds generated by Finley Stadium and the First Tennessee Pavilion.
"It is nice to given them something else to do. When it’s a day game or they want to come early, and it is just the whole Southside feel that’s getting generated," said Wise.
When the Social opens at the end of the year, developers say bowling will only be the tip of the iceberg.
"There’s going to be a resort style pool with a waterfall and an outdoor bar and grilling area adjacent to the bowling alley. There will be a vintage section arcade area with arcade games from the 60s and 70s, and then there will be ping pong tables, pool tables, a shuffle board and a golf simulator. So we are going to try and give people a lot of different things to do if they come down here not just bowling," added Wise.
The Social is expected to create 40-60 new jobs and with a new off ramp to be built in the future, it could be a bridge between the Lookout Valley area and downtown.
"That will be a great venue for the southside to be able to use that corridor and come straight in so we will access all the Black Creek area…..people will be able to get a lot quicker access."
