Space heater fire destroys camper in Jasper
JASPER, Tenn. (WDEF) — Improper use of a space heater resulted in a camper fire early Monday morning, according to firefighters.
Crews with the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) and the Jasper Fire Department responded to the camper fire just before 5 a.m. on Monday.
The fire broke out at Shellmound Campground in Jasper.
The fire department said that some crews protected surrounding RVs and vehicles, while other crews directly fought the fire. They stated that nearby campers and RVs only received minor damage.
One person was inside the camper and escaped, but they did receive minor injuries.
The HVFD said improper use of a space heater caused the fire.
No firefighters were injured.
