Spurrier Gets Another Shot at Georgia This Time With a Walk-On Quarterback

Georgia will try to run their SEC record to 2-0 on Saturday as South Carolina rolls into Athens.
The Gamecocks and Coach Spurrier always give Georgia fits, but will that be the case this weekend since Carolina will start a
former walk-on at quarterback.

You get the feeling when the Gamecocks face Georgia, the ol’ ballcoach wouldn’t mind suiting up himself.
Reporter-"I think there’s a belief that you like them less than you like any of your other opponents. Is that true? Is there something special about them."
Said Steve Spurrier,"Not really. Obviously when I got the job at Florida, Georgia was a team that was a thorn in the side of the Gators for history."
Spurrier has enjoyed some success against Georgia, but Dawgs coach Mark Richt doesn’t see the game as a coaching match-up.
"I don’t look at it as me against Coach Spurrier quite frankly. I just look at it as he’s trying to get his team ready to play, and I’m trying to get my team ready to play."
While the coaches talk nice in this rivalry, the players don’t.
Said Georgia defensive lineman Chris Mayes,"Words are always exchanged between players. Guys from Georgia are there. We have some South Carolina players on our team. Just a lot of verbal things and physical things also."
South Carolina expects a steady dose of Dawgs running back Nick Chubb
Said Spurrier,"Run the ball extremely well. Don’t throw it quite as much as they did back when (Aaron) Murray was there."
Added Richt,"We’ve got to have more balance in our passing attack or in our offensive system."
South Carolina will start walk-on Perry Orth at quarterback. He was working at Publix this summer before getting a full scholarship.
Said Spurrier,"He played pretty well the other night.(against Kentucky) We probably moved the ball with Perry in their in the second half the best we have all year."
