Stakes Still High For Mocs in Regular Season Finale Against Western Carolina

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The regular season hasn’t played out quite like the Mocs wanted with two SoCon losses. But UT

C still has a chance to extend their season if they can take care of business in their regular season finale against Western Carolina.

In their loss to Samford, the Mocs saw the Bulldogs run a staggering 91 plays.
Can UTC expect the same against Western Carolina?
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”At times they can. They probably try to run the ball a little more than Samford did. They can get up there. They’re an up-tempo, fast, get on the ball and snap it kind of offense.”
Maybe Samford has the Mocs ‘D’ prepared for the Catamounts.
Said defensive back Jordan Walker:”We need to get lined up ASAP. We’ve got to get lined up. We’ve got to get our eyes in the right spot and just get ready to make plays.”
Mocs are currently ranked 17th in the nation.
24 teams make the FCS playoffs, so UTC still has a shot at the post-season as long as they win Saturday.
Said Wright:”You look at standings around the leagues. Sure you do. I look at that every week to see how people do. I’ve got an idea about where we are you know in the grand scheme of things. Again we’ve left it up to someone else to decide our fate. We’ve got to go handle what we can handle, so it doesn’t really matter.”
Said offensive lineman McClendon Curtis:”I mean it’s easy to go ahead and look as a normal person, look at the next picture. Oh we win this game, we go to the playoffs. Honestly you’ve got to focus here. Focus on what’s coming up this week to be able to get to next week.”
Even though it’s the final week of the regular season, don’t look for Coach Wright to do anything special for the seniors at practice.
Said Wright:”I’ve been a few places where we’ve done some different things, but no, we don’t do that. I’m not letting anybody take a shot at me. (chuckles) I’m too old for that. I’m not putting a uniform on and letting anybody take a shot or holding a dummy and letting them take a shot or anything like that.”

Kickoff is set for 1pm from Cullowhee, North Carolina.
