Stars pay tribute to Leslie Jordan in Grand Ole Opry show
NASHVILLE (WDEF) – The Grand Ole Opry saluted the life and times of Chattanooga native Leslie Jordan on Sunday Night.
The tribute drew luminaries from music, comedy and acting.
The show included actors Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik and Max Greenfield.
There were also singers Maren Morris, Tanya Tucker, Brothers Osborne, Eddie Vedder and a video tribute from Dolly Parton.
“Everybody loves you, but I doubt that many of them loved you more than I did.”
Vedder performed a Pearl Jam classic plus the number he sang with Jordan on his gospel album.
And he even offered a questionable pun.
“I was a little surprised to find out he was from Chattanooga…. Because when I saw him, I thought ‘Oh, he hails from the Diminutive Republic.'”
Jordan only made his Opry connections a few years before when he recorded his Nashville album “Company’s Comin.”
But obviously won over a lot of people there.
The show was a sellout.
It will air later on the Opry Entertainment Group’s Circle Network.
