State, City and County Road Crews At The Ready For Cold Weather

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-It was a busy Wednesday of cold weather prepping for "Hercules" the TDOT salt truck and dozens of crews across our region.

Jennifer Flynn, TDOT,"Our crews in Hamilton County brined the roads Monday afternoon, we salted them yesterday, we feel we have a good enough coating of salt, we won’t be brining any today just on standby right now."

Hamilton County crews and Chattanooga Public Works are also at the ready.

Lee Norris, Chattanooga Public Works,"We’ve got 1250 centerline miles of streets, they range in anything from 5 or 6 lanes wide down to one lane wide, they go throw some fairly built up areas a lot more traffic on the roads a lot of hills, dales and bottoms it’s a little more challenging i think."

Mike Dunn,Hamilton County Official,"Its all hands on decks right now we’ve got two trucks stationed up on Signal Mountain, we have ten trucks total that are available to spread out salt and sand, yesterday we were putting brine on the roads, we did that earlier this morning anticipating the snow."

Flynn asks that drivers be patient and  give plenty of space to road crews.

Jennifer Flynn, TDOT,"We take care of the interstates and state routes, the city takes care of the city streets and they do take care of some of the state routes within the city limits and the county takes care of their county roads".
