State sending opioid settlement checks to each of our counties

Local governments will decide how they want to spend the money to address opioid abuse in their communities

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Your local county leaders will have a choice to make soon on how to spend some opioid money.

Tennessee’s Opioid Abatement Council is sending out their first round of direct payments to counties.

That’s more than $31 million from the state opioid lawsuit settlement.

Here is what each of our counties will be getting this time:

Bledsoe $69,943.58

Bradley $460,332.09

Grundy $84,137.96

Hamilton $1,503,939.60

Marion $143,371.14

McMinn $257,267.25

Meigs $59,871.66

Polk $77,858.63

Rhea $161,002.42

Sequatchie $77,048.53

Each county can choose how to spend the money on opioid issues in their communities.

“There isn’t a county in Tennessee that hasn’t been touched by the opioid crisis.  The funding going to these counties will have an immediate and much-needed impact.  We are excited to get this funding out to all 95 counties of our great state, and we can’t wait to see how local leaders put it to good use,” said Stephen Loyd, MD, Opioid Abatement Council Chairman.
