Station Street businesses respond to mayor’s order
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Business owners on Station Street gathered this morning to respond to Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly’s executive order last night.
The mayor’s order was pretty clear.
Because of some problems that have gone down in that area in the past, all businesses on Station Street must make the “last call” for alcohol at 12:30 a.m. and close at 1 a.m.
He said this was because of an increase in violence in that area late at night.
This morning, the business owners responded, saying the decision was made reactively.
Michael Alfano is a co-owner of The Comedy Catch. He said this order will cause an immense hardship to local businesses.
One business on Station Street did not comply with the order and remained open after 1 a.m. Thursday night.
The executive order from Mayor Kelly will last up to fifteen days, unless it is renewed.
Alfano claims most of the trouble on Station Street comes from only one business. See the full statement in this video:
