Stay at Home Dad wins Hamilton Co. Commission seat
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – There will also be new people on the Hamilton County Commission after yesterday’s elections.
One of those races had a surprising ending for some voters.
In District 6, newcomer David Sharpe will take the seat of longtime commissioner Joe Graham.
Sharpe is a businessman and stay at home dad.
He defeated Graham by 700 votes.
Sharpe ran as a democrat for the Lookout Valley post.
“From what I understand, at least in early voting, Democratic turnout in Hamilton county in district 6 was up almost 500 percent.”
“We had over 130 additional democratic ballots over republican ballots in early voting, but the margin of victory in early voting far exceeded those 130 ballots so we got a lot of republican votes as well.”
Sharp and the other new commissioners will be sworn-in on September 4th.
