Port strike reaction

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)– A port strike along the east and gulf coast is worrying citizens as it could become one of America’s most disruptive work stoppages in recent times.

We spoke with individuals from the Chattanooga area about how they think this possible shortage could affect them.

Charlotte Mcnabb, a Chattanooga resident said, “We’re in a fortunate group that we’ll be okay, I also am very aware of the fact that there’s a lot of people that aren’t and even the slightest increase in grocery prices, gas prices, anything, electronics, anything, that’s going to be impacted by this strike it’s very significant for them.”

While many Americans are concerned about the possible shortage of food and resources, tech specialists are speaking on what type of impact this would have on technology as many components used to make computers and phones are shipped to the US.

Ben Slaney, owner of Stateline Electronics said, “It’s probably going to end up being the parts and components you know coming for the computer, stuff like that. Custom PC’s, laptops, but to be honest, I don’t think it’s going to cause that big of an issue.”

On Thursday evening a temporary agreement was reached, and a truce was called.
