Strong Start for Angel Tree Program, but Kettles Lagging

Chattanooga (WDEF) The Angel Tree program is off to an unusually strong start this holiday season.

But there are still plenty of Angels that need adopting in our area.

Angel Tree Coordinator and Associate Area Commander Major Teresa Newsome states, “We have less than a thousand angels in Chattanooga left to be adopted and fewer than 400 in Cleveland! With a total of 4,566 total Angels needing to be adopted this season, this is the best position we have been in prior to Thanksgiving I have ever seen!”

But that success isn’t translating to the annual kettle campaign.

Financial donations are way off so far.

“We are about $25,000.00 down in monetary income in comparison to last year,” states Development Director, Kimberly George. “I don’t know if the weather has played a part in donations being sluggish, I know, to me, it doesn’t seem like Thanksgiving is only a week away, it’s been so warm.”
