Students take a Stand
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – “Students Taking a Right Stand,” better known as STARS, has a new leadership program underway.
And the Department of Education will be running it all month.
The program for secondary student leaders is called “Move-2-Stand.”
It’s a way to teach them to “Think, Be, and Do The Positive Thing.”
Karen Glenn oversees the program and says students have an incredible power to create “positive action.”
Most of the events are taking place at the South Chattanooga Recreation Center on west 40th street.
“People who are bullying, why are they bullying what are the reasons and the causes for that… that one was really crazy people don’t realize it but a lot of the reasons people bully and hurt other people is because them themselves are hurting.” says Jonathan Burden, an East Ridge student.
Only 6 schools can participate at once, with the last one being held on September 16th at the STEM school.
