Study Shows TN is the Worst State to Live in
That’s why Tinsley’s mouth almost dropped open when he heard CNBC’s new bold claim that Tennessee is the worst state to live in.
Tinsley adds, "I don’t think the survey is very accurate. Try going to Detroit, Chicago."
Illinois isn’t on the list, but Michigan is the sixth worst state to live in and Alabama ranks number five.
Tinsley says, "Violence is not as high here as what people are trying to suggest."
CNBC disagrees.
They say the violent crime rate in Tennessee is the worst in the country.
They reportedly got their statistics from a 2012 FBI report.
Evangeline Watanabe, a resident, says, "I think it’s pretty accurate, we just hide it."
The article goes on to say that Tennesseans might want to "volunteer" more to exercise, since less than half of the state frequently does.
Mike Parker, another resident, says, "There’s a lot people who ride bikes up here, but there’s a lot of lazy people up here."
However, our statistics show that this area is actually known for its mountain biking locations, and tourism hot spots.
J. E. d Marston, with the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, says, "We’ve seen Chattanooga and Tennessee receive national ratings in terms out outdoor amenities, in terms of business climate, attracting new industry and growing new industry."
The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce says you cannot attract people to Tennessee without it being a great place to live.
Marston adds, "Now, some of the things they highlight are definitely opportunities for improvement for us across the state, and I think we are making those strides."
Now, the only positive note CNBC made about Tennessee; Good music and barbeque.
