Suck Creek Residents asked to Conserve Water
The ongoing drought has affected many of our viewing areas over the last several months.
On Tuesday the Tennessee American Water company requested that all Suck Creek residents conserve water as much as they can.
This is effecting some 250 residents in the area.
“Two thirds of the water for the Suck Creek residents comes from wells and those wells are at a low level right now. Conservation is 50 foot, which is the halfway point of the volume of water that would normally be well”, said external affairs manager for Tennessee American Water Daphne Kirksey.
Burney McDowell has lived in the Suck Creek Community for 47 years and he says he’s seen this happen before.
“It’s sort of a natural deal. Everybody else has got water problems and I think we solve our real water problems.”
He solved some of those issues by creating is own irrigation system for some of the plants in his yard and at his nursery.
Tennessee American Water company wants their customers to know there is no need to panic.
“It won’t become a crisis point because we do have a secondary source where we do draw a third of the water which is through Walden’s Ridge Utility District”, said Kirksey.
