Summerville man sentenced to prison on meth trafficking charges

SUMMERVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — A judge has sentenced a Summerville man to 15 years in prison for methamphetamine trafficking.

A Chattooga County jury convicted 43-year-old Brice Restan Ware of trafficking meth and possession of meth with intent to distribute.

The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit’s district attorney said the jury took only 20 minutes to deliberate before coming to a verdict. This followed a two-day trial.

Evidence showed Drug Task Force Agent Chris Wooten conducted a traffic stop in Trion, in which the two occupants admitted to using a controlled substance. Those people told authorities they got the substance from Ware, and they showed agents where they purchased it.

The DA said Agent Wooten then obtained a search warrant for that house. Authorities searched the home and found 60 grams of meth in Ware’s bedroom. There were 40 baggies of meth in a black backpack, alongside Ware’s identification card, according to the DA.

Authorities explained another person in the home had four baggies of meth. She told agents Ware gave it to her to sell.

After receiving a guilty verdict, Judge Don Thompson sentenced Ware to serve 15 years in the Georgia Department of Corrections and serve 30 years on probation.

“We see evidence every day of how methamphetamine destroys our community. We appreciate the hard work of our entire law enforcement community on this front—but in particular the community needs to understand the incredible work done by the Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force under the leadership of Commander Caine Railey. As meth pours in from our porous southern border, my office will stand shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement and fight back against the cartels and the drug dealers,” said DA Clayton Fuller.
