Susan G. Komen ‘More than Pink’ walk upcoming this Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Susan G. Komen Foundation will host its annual “More Than Pink Walk” on Saturday.

The walk will take place at Hamilton Place Mall this year.

Organizers are gathering the community to help fight breast cancer.

They also plan to remember those who passed away from breast cancer and celebrate those who survived.

The walk happens this Saturday, September 16. It will start at 9 a.m. and gates will open at 8:30 a.m.

Following the walk, various events will take place, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Here is a list of activities at the breast cancer event:

  • Music & dancing with DJ Victor Chatman.
  • Mocktail tasting at Rodizio Grill.
  • Bra fittings at Dillard’s.
  • Performance from Infinity Dance at The Finish Line.
  • Friendship bracelet making at Palmetto Moon.
  • Community art project with silk by Claire.
  • Face painting with FacesByDeb.
  • Pink Epsom salt making with Buff City Soap.
  • Spin-to-Win Prize Wheel with prizes from Maurice’s, Party Fowl, Rodizio Grill, Adore Me, and more.

“I, myself, have not been affected by breast cancer, but I’ve had friends that have and a mother-in-law. And I think the more awareness that we can get out there, the better. And this is a great way to pull our community together and get that get the word spread even more,” said supporter Starr Care.

Registration is now available at Komen.org. All are welcome and invited to attend.

Funds raised during the walk will go toward breast cancer patients, research and patient navigation services, according to Susan G. Komen.

“We look forward to creating a community for those impacted by breast cancer as we gather for this year’s Walk,” said Joshua Daniel, State Executive Director at Susan G. Komen. “Nearly, 1,455 individuals in the Tennessee area seek help and information from Susan G. Komen each week, and events like the MORE THAN PINK WALK allow us to continue programs like our Komen helpline, and further breast cancer advocacy for policies that improve outcomes for all patients.”
