Suspect arrested for murder after domestic confrontation in Dalton

Investigators say he was escorting a woman who was getting her things from an ex-boyfriend

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A man has been arrested in the early morning hours following Thanksgiving for a murder in Dalton.

Police say 42 year old William Holmes was escorting a woman who was getting her belongings from an ex-boyfriend around 2:30 AM at a home on Patton Street.

Investigators say she got into an argument with the boyfriend and Holmes got out of the vehicle.

They say he got into a fight and stabbed the victim, who died at the scene.

Officials say Holmes fled the scene but was stopped by Whitfield County deputies as he tried to make it to a hospital in Murray County to be treate3d for a wound.

The case is still under investigation and more charges could be filed.
