Suspect arrested in July 5, 2026 shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A suspect has been arrested in connection of the July 5, 2026 shooting that occurred on the 1000 block of North Hickory Street.

That shooting resulted in officers discovering a 61-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

76-year-old Archie Smith was arrested and charged with Attempted Homicide and Felony Reckless Endangerment.

Smith has been trnasported to Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

The charges and allegations are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.
