Suspect dead after officer involved shooting in Fairfield Glade

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A fatal officer-involved shooting that took place in Fairfield Glade Tuesday afternoon is under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. CT while law enforcement officers were searching for a suspect linked to a domestic incident.

An officer from the Fairfield Glade Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver refused to comply, prompting the officer to initiate a pursuit.

According to the TBI, the chase ended when the driver pulled into a gravel driveway on Peavine Road.

He exited his vehicle armed with a handgun.

The suspect fired at the officer, hitting the patrol vehicle’s windshield.

After firing, he advanced toward the officer on foot.

The officer returned fire, fatally striking the suspect.

Authorities later identified the suspect as 42-year-old Jody Tollet.

No officers were injured during the incident.
