Suspect could face death penalty for northeast Alabama child murder

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – One man faces a capital murder charge after the death of a child in DeKalb County, Alabama last year.

The Grand Jury returned the indictment against Noe Mateo.

It comes after the death of a child in Crossville in February of 2017.

Investigators say Mateo lived in the same home as the victim, and was also a relative of the child.

He is currently in custody in Georgia and will be extradited back to Alabama to face charges.
