Suspect From Shooting Near Waffle House Found in Dade County Cave
The 21 year old Michael Shavers opened fire at a young couple as they were leaving Waffle House Wednesday morning.
Police say the search lasted all day, but things really heated up.When police got a tip about Shavers’ possible location, the hunt for him was on.
Sheriff Ray Cross said "It was probably about 2 or 3 acres involved in the search."
It took about 20 officers and a helicopter for them to finally find Shavers held up in a cave.
"Well, we had a tip that he had been dropped off there around a cave, and his grandparents actually live up behind the cave in that area…..He was probably in the cave that whole time we were searching for him." said Sheriff Cross
When they found him, an officer threw tear gas inside of the cave and Shavers came out and was taken into custody.
He is being held at the Dade County Jail and is being charged with 2 counts of attempted murder.
