Suspected cited for taking from charity donations late at night

MURPHY, North Carolina (WDEF) – Many communities have problems with people stealing from donation bins.

Over the weekend, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrested one suspected offender.

On Saturday morning, just after midnight, someone reported a woman removing items from the Logan Run Rescue donation tables.

Sgt. Cody Williams responded and caught her in the act.

he issued her a criminal summons and recovered the property.

“The great work by our sheriff’s office continues to deter larcenies in the late evenings. We are hoping the word is getting out that people will be held accountable if caught stealing in Cherokee County.”
