Suspicious fires under investigation in Dade County
Dade County, Georgia (WDEF) — In Dade County, investigators are looking into what caused a string of fires Monday night in the Davis community.
All that is left of the home on McBryar road is debris and rubble. It’s not the only one – on Monday night three homes in the Davis community caught on fire, one after the other.
“I went out Monday night round 8:00 for the first fire. I hadn’t even left the scene yet until there was another fire reported. On the way to the second one, we run up on the third one. These were all within a five minute drive of each other. That is very rare. The odds of that are like getting struck by lightning,” says Chief Investigator Don Hicks with the Dade County Sheriff’s Office.
Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross says investigators are trying to determine if these are connected and if it was intentional.
“It is very suspicious. We’ve called the fire marshal in, which will be here tomorrow to look at these fires and see what they can tell us about it,” says Sheriff Cross.
He says they won’t stop until they have an answer.
The state fire marshal will be on-scene investigating tomorrow morning.
