SUV crashes into East Chattanooga barbershop

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A barbershop in East Chattanooga suffered severe damage early Monday morning.

Officials say an SUV veered off the road and ran into the building at Glass  and Awtry Streets just before 8AM.

When firefighters got there, they found the vehicle in the road and much of the building collapsed.

The driver was taken to the hospital, but a passenger was not injured.

Investigators believe the SUV clipped a power pole before running into the corner of the building.

The barbershop was closed Monday as a building inspector looked over the damage.
