T-SPLOST on ballot and officials say some are “misinformed”

TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF)- Voting is underway in Trenton, Georgia and officials say there is some confusion amongst the community about the Transportation sales tax that’s on the ballot.

The T-SPLOST referendum would generate 7 point 7 million dollars for transportation projects all over the city.

There is one project in particular that Trenton officials say has been in the works for years now.

It is a new exit on I-59 that would alleviate some of the 18 wheeler traffic from the town.
They say property owners are just one of the groups that will see the impact directly.

Ted Rumley, County Chairman Executive, says, “Everyone that travels through your town would be maintaining our roads. We could do away with our road budget that our taxpayers are paying right now, our county property tax payers. And give that back to the taxpayers as a rollback on millage rates”

You can vote through Saturday, and the general primary is on May 22nd.
