TBI investigates circumstances leading to an officer-involved use of force incident

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved use of force incident.

According to the TBI, on Saturday the Smyrna Police Department responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North Lowry Street in Smyrna.

They say that when officers arrived, subject Christopher Jones fled the scenes.

It’s been reported that the situation escalated and an officer deployed a non-lethal weapon, striking Jones.

Jones was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated.

None of the officers involved were hurt.

The reasons leading to the shooting are still under investigation.
