TBI investigates why a deputy shot a driver in a chase last night
Officers say the vehicle continued in their direction after being forced off road
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The TBI has issued a preliminary report on an officer-involved shooting case last night involving a Hamilton County Deputy.
Sheriff’s officers were chasing a suspect on Lee Highway around midnight.
The chase continued until deputies forcibly stopped the vehicle in the 6000 block of Shallowford Road at Highway 153.
But officials say vehicle continued toward the deputies.
One of the deputies opened fire, hitting the driver.
The TBI says the suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the deputies were injured.
District Attorney General Coty Wamp has requested that the TBI conduct the investigation into the shooting.
