TBI Investigating Fatal Sweetwater Officer-Involved Shooting

SWEETWATER — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating a fatal officer involved shooting that occurred on December 15 in Sweetwater.
Officers from the Sweetwater Police Department responded to a shoplifting report near the 900 block of South Main Street.
A foot pursuit occurred after officers located the subject.
Officers struck the subject after a knife was brandished and the subject advanced toward the officers.
The subject was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.
No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident, according to the TBI.
TBI agents are investigating the incident.
