TBI investigating officer involved shooting in Copperhill

POLK COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in Polk County. The shooting was fatal and happened Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting happened at 5 p.m. at a home on CC Camp Road in Copperhill, according to the TBI.
Several law enforcement agencies were serving a probation violation warrant for 40-year-old Matthew Alexander Rich. Those included U.S. Marshals, drug task force agents and Polk County deputies.
The TBI said the Marshals announced their presence and then Rich came to the front door. Rich then shot at the officers, the TBI said.
Then, the TBI said three officers returned fire, killing Rich.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
However, the TBI is still investigating. Once their investigation is complete, they will turn over the information to District Attorney General Shari Tayloe.
