TBI investigating Police shooting in Monteagle

MONTEAGLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting of a woman Monday by a Monteagle Police officer.

In their preliminary report, the TBI says that Monteagle officers go the call of a person with a weapon near a market on Highway 41.

The first officer on the scene found Angie McFarland with a gun.

They say initial reports say she pointed the firearm at the officer and he fired.

The 50 year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

They says TBI agents are piecing together for themselves what lead up to the shooting.
