TBI report shows increase in violent crimes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (News Channel 5) – A new report released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation revealed that cases of violent crimes, such as rape and murder, increased in 2015.

On Monday, the TBI released its 2015 Crime in Tennessee report — which showed an overall decrease in reported instances of crime, despite rising numbers in certain types of crimes.

According to the study, reported homicides increased by 9.4 percent, while the number of forcible rape cases reported by law enforcement agencies increased by 2.4 percent.
