TDOT Shelves Toll Bridge Plan for Hamilton County

Chattanooga (WDEF/AP) The Tennessee Department of Transportation shelves plans to build a toll bridge from near the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant in Soddy Daisy across the Tennessee River.

TDOT determined the toll would need to be more expensive than most people would be willing to pay.  In addition, growth in the area around Soddy-Daisy has been slower than expected.

About a decade ago, Tennessee lawmakers passed legislation allowing TDOT to recommend up to two toll projects in the state, one bridge and one road.

The Hamilton County Bridge Committee was told a few years ago a trip across the bridge would cost $3 per car and $4.50 per truck.
