Teacup Yorkie survives hawk attack at Cleveland dog kennel

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A small dog in Cleveland apparently survived a wild encounter over the weekend that might end up in court.

A Teacup Yorkie was left at a local dog facility while its owners were on a cruise.

On Saturday, the attendant let the dog out into the kennel and went next door to clean.

The kennel was fenced in, but there was no protection from above.

While the dog was outside, a hawk scooped in and snatched the Yorkie and flew off with it.

Cleveland Police reported that a woman who lived a few streets over found a Yorkie near her home.

She said it was sickly looking.

She said she tracked the owners on Facebook, and the owner said they would sue the dog daycare center.

Meanwhile, the operators are putting a net over the kennel cages to prevent any future attacks from above.
