Teams Have Hard Time Keeping Up With Bradley Central’s Hannah Jones
Cleveland, TN-(WDEF-TV) The Bradley Central Bearettes are looking for a ticket to the state tournament for the fifth straight year. They’re already in good shape — especially with junior Hannah Jones leading the way. News 12’s Angela Moryan tells us what makes Jones so dangerous.
Said guard Karsee Weber: “We’ll look down the court, and she’ll be already at the goal. Then we’ll just throw it, and there it goes, in the basket.”
Bearette forward Hannah Jones seems to be everywhere.
Jones is averaging over 16 points a game.
Said head coach Jason Reuter: “She’s our bell cow inside… That’s going to be our game plan. I’m not giving any secrets away. You’re going to need to stop Hannah Jones first, every night.”
Stopping her isn’t easy. She’s consistently one of the fastest players on the court.
Angie: “How unstoppable is she?”
Said Weber: “Oh, she’s very unstoppable. She is one of a kind.”
Said Reuter: “I don’t think there’s many post players in the nation that can run with her from 84 feet. She’s got the speed of a slashing guard in a six foot body.”
Said Jones: “Well, when you have people that are slower than you, I mean it’s hard to guard you down the court, so you just run down the floor and get the layup.”
And this year, Jones has had to take control of the inside as the Bearettes number one post player as well.
Said Reuter: “That’s another layer on her shoulders. Not only am I the fastest person in post, coach is asking me to defend the other team’s biggest player. I’m going to knock on wood. She hasn’t been in foul trouble yet. You know that day is coming. It’s my job to figure out how to keep us winning when that day comes.”
Said Jones: “In AAU, I’m the big girl on the team, too, so that’s like helped that I have the same mindset in this game, too.”
Said Reuter: “Is she perfect? No. But I wouldn’t trade her for anybody. She runs like a deer. She’s unselfish. She’s coachable. She wants to lead by example, and that’s the best leaders. They lead by example.”
