TECH BYTE: NASA’s Biggest Moments of 2022

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (WDEF) — 2022 has been an astronomical year for NASA!

Let’s take a look back at a few of their biggest moments.

Of course, this list wouldn’t be worth its moon rocks without mentioning the Artemis 1 Lunar Mission.

This is the start of a series of missions to explore more of the moon’s surface and ultimately Mars.

NASA’s Space Launch System rocket was used to slingshot the Orion Spacecraft around the Moon and back as a test before sending astronauts.

It made its successful trip back to Earth on December 11.

Want to go a little farther than the moon?

The James Webb Space Telescope was sent out into space at the end of 2021, but it took six months to send back new photographs of the solar system.

They were definitely worth the wait.

NASA also continued its commitment to fight climate change by launching the EMIT mission aboard the International Space Station.

NASA says EMIT has the ability to detect methane, and how mineral dust affects the heating and cooling of the planet.

NASA’s year has definitely been out of this world!
