TechByte: LG Showcases New Helper Robot at CES

Humanoid robots are in the news again. This time it’s a helper bot from a popular South Korean company.

The Consumer Electronics Show draws thousands to its Las Vegas showroom.

A standout product on 2026’s opening day was “Cloid” – L-G Electronics’ new AI powered robot that can help with chores.

Company executives say ‘Cloid’ is the result of seven years of research on commercial robotics.

John Taylor, Senior Vice President, Lg Electronics USA says “My favorite is when Cloid actually folds the towels. This has been the Holy Grail for a long time. We’ve talked about smart appliances for a decade now, and they’re becoming smarter and smarter. Cloid can take it from the washer and put it in the dryer and then ultimately fold it.”

This helper bot Is what experts call “Affectionate Intelligence” designed to connect with every appliance in a home.

LG Electronics does not have a timeline yet for when this product will be sold in the U.S. (Or how much it might cost) but say it’s a sneak peek at what’s coming…
