Teen takes on ‘Rock the Riverfront’ Wednesday with her fiddle
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Rock the Riverfront is still going on at the Chattanooga Riverfront, featuring different performers each week. On Wednesday, March 27, Abigail Snell took on the Riverfront with her fiddle.
She performed from 4 to 6 p.m. on the Chattanooga Green.
River City Company said Snell is “one of the youngest SoundCorps Sidewalk Stage buskers.”
She is just 15 years old and has been playing the fiddle for about eight years.
Snell said the old “Chattanooga Music Man” statue on Frazier Avenue first got her interested in the fiddle.
She then started attending Fiddlers Anonymous, learning to play bluegrass and Irish music.
“Music has always been an important part of my life. Especially Irish and bluegrass. It just makes me so happy to play,” Snell said. “Really, I want to keep learning more. And keep bringing smiles to people. Because people, when they see me, they just smile. And I like that. It makes me happy.”
Snell also wants to thank her teacher, Tom Morley, for changing her life with music.
Rock the Riverfront will have more musical performances for the rest of the week.
On Thursday, Tryezz will be performing “his all-original scenic grooves to ride, vibe, and dance,” River City Company said.
Then on Friday, DJ Flow Eazy will be taking on the Riverfront from 5 to 7 p.m.
There will be plenty going on this weekend at Rock the Riverfront.
The public can partake in an Easter Egg Hunt from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. There will also be a “Best Bunny” dog costume contest with the Humane Educational Society from 1 to 2 p.m. Then from 5 to 7 p.m., guests can enjoy Rhyme N Chatt – Jass, Spoken Word and Hip Hop.
Then, all day Sunday, the public can attend a picnic in the park for Sunday FunDay.
There are a little over two weeks left of the event.
