Tennessee Democrats hold ‘Affordability Tour’ in Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Tennessee Democrats made a stop in Chattanooga Friday.
Representative Yusuf Hakeem and Senator Charlane Oliver talked with voters at the Washington Hills Community Center.
This is part of the Democrats’ affordability tour which has also visited Nashville and Memphis, and will visit Knoxville Saturday.
They spoke about various economic issues, often being critical of the Republican super majority’s policies that they argue are making Tennessee more unaffordable.
Representative Hakeem in particular said that the affordability problem in his view is intentional.
He said, “I feel like what we’re living through is controlled chaos, and what I mean by that to some degree, it’s intentional for you, those different zip codes you’re talking about, it’s intentional not to be able to decide or have the funding to go to x ZIP Code or another ZIP Code.”
Various community organizations who work on economic issues were also present at the meeting.
