Tennessee Historic Development Grant recipients unveiled
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee’s General Assembly approved nearly $9 million in grants to renovate and preserve historical buildings across Tennessee. The TNECD recently released the list of recipients of the Historic Development Grant.
The TNECD said this program is meant to encourage communities and private developers to invest in historical buildings.
Recipients of the grant include individuals, developers, nonprofits and local government agencies.
Local buildings to be repaired from grant funds are listed below.
Chattanooga, Tennessee:
- Chattanooga Bank Building – $300,000
- Terminal Station – $24,000
- Trigg-Smart Building – $300,000
Ducktown, Tennessee:
- Kimsey Junior College – $400,000
The Tennessee General Assembly approved the grant program in April 2021. They approved a total of $8.7 million.
The TNECD and the Tennessee Historical Commission partnered to decide where the grant funding would go. They also determined the criteria for eligibility.
