Tennessee kicks off Sales Tax Holiday this weekend
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Tennessee is gearing up for this weekend’s sales tax holiday and back to school..
“All supplies will be tax free that weekend as well as apparel as well as any electronics like computers laptops up to $1,500,” said Micheal White, Asset Protection Coach for Walmart.
Tennessee’s sales tax holiday begins after midnight on Friday morning July 26th.
White considers the sales tax holiday weekend the best time to get ready for school
“We are providing the opportunity to get your school list ready,” said White. “Have all those supplies ready for you at a great price. You can get them and then you can rest easy when school starts, so you can start that school year feeling confident ready to go.”
White says the sales tax holiday is also convenient for college students as well.
“They do not have to worry about mom and dad’s account or when having to come into the store. We can ship it to the dorm or to where they are living, and that way they can have their supplies and make it more convenient for them.”
While shopping for the holiday, there are several items that are not exempt.
Those items include jewelry and handbags, printer supplies, household appliances, flash drives, and more.
However, White believes it’s important that back to school shopping is as easy as possible.
“If you have Walmart plus or the Walmart app, you can go into the services section and you can actually find a school list for your school first by zip code. That way parents can go in there and they can find what school supplies for their classroom before the school year starts. Teachers can also go in there to add items or make changes to it so that it is very convenient,” White concluded.
