Tennessee man sentenced to 36 years in crash that killed 3

ERIN, Tenn. (AP) – A Tennessee man has been sentenced to 36 years in prison in the traffic deaths of two adults and a 12-day-old infant.

The Leaf-Chronicle reports 39-year-old Benjamin Ray Franklin of New Johnsonville was sentenced last week in Houston County Circuit Court on six counts of vehicular homicide.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Franklin’s vehicle crossed the center line and hit another car in October 2015 on Tennessee Route 13. Killed were the driver of the other car, 20-year-old William Griggs of Waverly, and passengers 19-year-old Kassidy Leonard of Clarksville and the couple’s newborn daughter, Kimberlynn Griggs.

Prosecutors said at the trial that Franklin had narcotics in his system at the time of the crash.
