Tennessee Scores 28 in First Quarter in Victory Over South Carolina
Knoxville, TN (WDEF) – Last year, Tennessee had just three games scoring more that 28 points. Saturday, they started with a 28 point quarter to defeat South Carolina 45-20.
Tennessee wide receiver, Velus Jones Jr., said “Man, this is exciting. You know, scoring is fun. I can only imagine how the players felt before us that Coach Heupel’s been over. It’s an amazing feeling. Everybody’s smiling. You can just feel the energy. You just love that feeling so we just have to keep scoring.”
Tennessee defense played well especially considering two starters were out with injuries. Coach Josh Heupel is calling all resources to fill the holes.
“Anybody here that’s got eligibility, please let me know after the press conference. I’ll be opening a tryout here on Sunday. No, our guys have to have the next man up mentality. You saw today, guys that maybe haven’t gotten their opportunity yet were ready when the opportunity presented itself today.”
