Tennessee Tech University Launches Master’s in Child Life
Cookeville, TN (WDEF)- The university’s Board of Trustees recently approved the program, which is designed to meet a growing demand from hospitals for specialists trained to support children’s emotional and developmental needs. University leaders say the degree will strengthen pediatric care across the state.
“This program gives our students incredible opportunities to gain experience, and we want them to be well prepared and positioned to be leaders on the healthcare teams that they’ll be on,” said Dr. Melinda Anderson, a professor at Tennessee Tech.
The Master’s in Child Life program is set to open this fall, providing students with hands-on training to help children and families navigate hospital stays, medical procedures, and other healthcare challenges.
Tennessee Tech officials hope the program will not only benefit students but also have a lasting impact on pediatric care in communities throughout Tennessee.
