Texas Showing Plenty of Respect For Talented Georgia Team

Texas is back in a major bowl game for the first time since losing in the national title game to Alabama in 2009. Of course the Longhorns will face a talented Georgia team in the Sugar Bowl that came awfully close to making the playoffs.

Reporter:”When you look at Georgia’s offensive line. The size and athleticism there. Just kind of what do you see from those guys and the challenge that’s going to be for your defensive front.”
Said Texas defensive coordinator Todd Orlando:”You know that’s the biggest thing. The bigger bodies that can move. They’re a zone team. So they can get that wave rolling on you, and they can gobble you up. A lot of the times you see some bigger body guys when they get to 320 or 330 that you may be slow-footed or you see guys that just can’t move too well. These guys can.”
Reporter:”This running game. Is it the best that you have seen this year?”
Said Texas head coach Tom Herman:”Again different. I mean when we played Oklahoma in the conference title game they had gone like six straight games of rushing for over 290-yards. The one thing those two teams have in common are massive offensive linemen. (chuckles) And really, really talented tailbacks, which usually equates to a pretty good run game.”
Reporter:” When you look at (Elijah) Holyfield and (D’Andre) Swift that one-two combo in the backfield, what kind of challenges does that present?”
Said Orlando:”Yeah they’re kind of push button speed guys. The thing that I love about both those cats is they will try to run you over.”
Reporter:”You guys haven’t a faced a defense this good. I mean at least not statistically.”
Said Texas offensive coordinator Tim Beck:”Yeah you didn’t have to remind me about how good they were. They’re an excellent defensive football team. They’re big. They’re physical. They run to the football. They do a really good job of stripping the football. They’ve created a lot of turnovers. We’ve harped on that consistently for the last month.”
Said Herman:”Now we are going to have to play our best. We’re certainly not good enough to show up (chuckles) with our B-game and expect to beat a team like Georgia. We are going to need our A-game.”
