Mom To Mom – Make a Thanksgiving Apple Turkey Decoration
Here’s a fun, sweet treat your kids will enjoy making. We are making Thanksgiving apple turkeys. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy a new tradition for the holidays, and this is definitely one that you will take up. It’s fun to do with the kids, so much like a gingerbread house for Christmas, this is a Thanksgiving turkey for Thanksgiving. All you’re going to need is apple, some spice drops, some candy corn, some raisins, marshmallows, and toothpicks. Also, I like to use some cookie icing. Now, let’s grab the kiddos and have some fun decorating this turkey.
First, we’re going to start with the feathers. You’re going to take about 10 toothpicks and stick about three spice drops on each toothpick. Once you have those assembled, set those off to the side, then we’re going to go to the legs. Take two toothpicks for the legs and put a gum drop on each one. Set those aside. Now we move on to the face where we take a marshmallow and a toothpick. Stick it on there and then place it into the apple. We’re going to take the candy corn for the beak and kind of just stick it right into the top of that marshmallow, where the toothpick is.
Then we’re going to use the icing as a paste for the eyes, and then you can actually use it for the wattle as well, which I use a red gummy. Let’s gather up all our feathers and place them into the back of the apple however you’d like, then you can put your legs in, and voila, you have your Thanksgiving apple turkey.
The kids really enjoy doing this, and it just is something fun to do as a new tradition on Thanksgiving. If you do this, we’d love to see those pictures. You can post them to our Facebook page, and be sure to check out our Mom To Mom page for more tips.
